Well ... we made it through Valentine's Day! Thank goodness it's over.
Social Studies
We spent a good deal of time talking about the Egyptian Revolution after watching CNN Student News. We've been watching and discussing this quite a bit lately, so we'll have a short quiz on Wednesday to see how well the students understand what happened in Egypt, and how it could affect us in the USA. We then jumped into another article on globalization by Thomas Friedman - while reading the article, we discussed how advances in technology have created a global world that may challenge our future workers when looking for work. Students had to complete a CNS sheet on the article. Those who worked hard finished it in class ... those who were more focused on Valentine's Day need to finish it as homework.
Literature
It was another FVR / work day. Most of the students have already finished their second round of standards work, so they read in their independent reading books. Monday (today) and Tuesday are the last two days that we'll have FVR for quite awhile, with some vacation days and PAWS tests coming up soon. Most of the kids enjoyed it!
