Wednesday, 2.16 (White Day)

Social Studies

Students had a couple of things to do today. To begin, they all took a quiz on Google Docs over the recent revolution in Egypt. We then turned our attention to our unit on globalization - students worked in groups to find patterns between all of the things we've talked about during the past two weeks (outsourcing, technology, rise of China and India, education, etc.) to help them define how globalization will affect their future. They'll use these patterns in their final projects over globalization, which they'll be working on next week.

Literature

We started a new unit today in reading, this time focusing on how to read informational text. We focused on finding main ideas and supporting details in informational text. The students then took turns "playing teacher" and practiced scoring sample answers from students who tried to find the main idea and supporting details in informational articles.
